LAURA MEEHAN loves people and books, so editing comes naturally to her. She has her Master’s in Writing/Book Publishing from Portland State University, where she co-taught a graduate-level editing course. She has edited a variety of books, ranging from poetry to magical realism to nonfiction; she has worked in all editing capacities from proofreader to senior editor. She also has experience in academic editing and the writing and editing of business and web materials. To add her list of skills, Laura studied and speaks French. Her favorite books to work on (and read) are fiction or young adult, but she enjoys working on books by any passionate and dedicated author. She sees editing a person’s book as a learning opportunity and a chance to share a piece of someone’s heart.

KATIE SHAW is pursuing her Master's in Writing/Book Publishing from Portland State University. Enamored of books at a young age, she received a bachelor's degree in literature from Whitworth University. After editing newspaper obituaries for a year after college, she decided it was time for a change. She has experience with developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading and has worked on a variety of manuscripts. In addition to being an assistant editor at Declaration, she currently serves as the managing editor at Ooligan Press. Katie loves the way editing opens up windows to worlds of information and ideas that she might not otherwise experience.
